"Bruteman" Roger Foley (Singer, comedian, and producer) - Performer at concert portion of Conference

Roger is the founding President of the CAFA Central Branch and the producer of the Canadian Ataxia Conference. "In 2007 I was officially diagnosed with cerebellar ataxia, I was born with it and was fighting its effects all my life without ever knowing what I had. I was diagnosed when I was working at RBC Dominion Securities, I loved working for Dominion Securities and put every ounce of passion, loyalty, respect, honesty, and intelligence into my role as E-business Specialist. I won the RBC Award of Excellence two times and multiple Top Performer Awards.

The fight against ataxia was not going too well for me, my health began to break down completely after decades of battling against the condition. In 2009 my health completely collapsed and I was near death continuing to fight against it the way I had since birth. I lost my ability to walk, speak, control my limbs, or stay conscious for long periods of time. Cerebellar Ataxia had ended the way of life I fought so hard to build. I felt lost, cheated, and defeated.

But with all this happening I still had fight left in me, I was not going to give up. I have had so many challenges in my life beyond my health that I never backed down from. I started physiotherapy to learn how to walk and move again. I obsessively learned about nutrition and how I could get my body to function on the best natural food energy resources available. And most importantly, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I have this degenerative hereditary disease and that my health will never be the same, but my fight against it will never cease. Every day is a challenge, but every day I wake up ready to take on that challenge. I am dedicating the rest of my life to philanthropy, I want to help those with Ataxia and also those living with disabilities in Canada any way I am able."

Erica Richer (Speaker) - Speaker at concert portion of Conference

"I began writing when I realized I was spending most of my time dreaming about people and places that I imagined. It doesn’t matter if I’m awake or asleep while I dream, the characters become so complex and real that I feel compelled to tell their story. I feel the urge to write it all down because I feel they are stories that have to be told, so I do. I find it incredibly satisfying to create a story from beginning to end.

Born an avid reader and bookworm by nature, I’ve always had a passion for creating stories, even when I was little. Whether I portrayed characters in drama or wrote about them. As a child I wrote books with pictures to go along, as a teenager I wrote poems and songs to express myself, and now as an adult I write novels to entertain myself and other readers. Writing is a part of me and I am very drawn to writing about suspenseful, mythical, supernatural, and paranormal themes all with a hint of mystery and romance. It’s an escape from an ever present reality.

I do try to incorporate truthful aspects in each of my books since I always enjoy learning something new, be it about a location or language. I want to offer my readers the same opportunities. I hope my novels can bring readers as much entertainment as they bring me."

Ill at Will dance crew - Performers at concert portion of Conference

Our dance is called Breaking, or B-boying, but it's also known as breakdancing. Breaking is one of the main elements of Hip Hop culture; other elements include rapping, turntablism (DJing), and graffiti art. We mostly dance to rap, funk, and breaks (drum sections of a song) but we'll go off to whatever makes our feet move!

Ill at Will is a Canadian B-Boy (breakdance) crew formed in late August 2008. Our members are mainly from Ontario's 519 area with others from Toronto and Holland.

Ill at Will has organized numerous workshops and events for the local communities in Windsor and London, including a successful street dance competition at Centennial Hall London. We have also battled at competitions in New York, Michigan, Quebec, and around Ontario.

We do community workshops around the 519 area, teach youth through various dance studios, and travel to competitions in other cities to battle or help judge, representing London, Windsor, and Toronto's next generation of B-Boys.
